聖經由希伯來文、亞蘭文和希臘文寫成，神學生學習原文，多數看為一件苦事，常以實用性來衡量其價值，認為聖經已有譯本，也有釋經書，加上學習後又容易忘記，於是就覺得花時間學習不大實用。特別是聖經亞蘭文，佔的篇幅只有幾章（創三十一47；耶十11、拉四8~六18，七12-26和但二4b~七28），只佔希伯來聖經1%，卻要花最少三個月時間去艱苦學習有何用呢？使用相同時間在其他方面學習更覺得值得和有用。
