審判若只顧及別人的感受是徇私，若單滿足對方的需要則是枉法，更甚者審判官不按受審者的罪行審判，而只求自己利益，則是違化亂紀、貪贓枉法。希伯來聖經也似的觀念，律法書要求審判官要按公義施行審判，表現在於「不可偏護窮人，也不可重看有勢力的人」（利十九15），「不可看人的外貌；聽訟不可分貴賤，不可懼怕人」（申一17），審判的方向很清晰，目的是要「定義人有理，定惡人有罪」（申二十五1）。明顯違背神所吩咐人要按公義和公正施行審判的原則（詩七十二2；賽十一4），其實，神也是按這些原則審判人（詩九十八9）。
