人在伊甸園，神只要求人「耕種」和「看守」，至於人怎樣做，神沒有詳細交代，嚴格來說，也不用介入，只要人做妥就成。神不用理會任何事的細節，但祂只要人遵守祂一個吩咐，就是不要吃分別善惡樹的果子。其實神可以不用給人選擇，或是不創造分別善惡樹就成。可是神刻意這樣做，就是給人有自由選擇的機會（請不要說神一早預知，否則又出現既然全能，為何改變不到人的悖逆，若是全善，為何忍心看到人墮落的神學問題），若聽從的話，就可以與神一起在伊甸國，否則，就要離開，避免人吃到生命樹的果子，就永遠不死。
