講道是否理想，一方面要看講道的預備功夫是否足夠，這是自知的。另一方面則是要根據會眾的反應來衡量自己的表現，就可以清楚知道了。正如之前指出預備功夫建基於學識、經歷和表達，若明知自己有所缺欠也不改善，這又怎能有成功的機會呢？若未有試過成功講道的經歷，又怎可享受自己預備講道，自己都不享受，會眾又怎能享受呢？難道每次都以「聖靈感動自己說這篇信息」來增加自己的權威嗎？至於會眾的反應，以我個人經驗來說，可以視乎會眾不同的表現的行為來衡量自己的講論是否達到應有的效果。
