王國分裂後，羅波安在提哥亞設防（代下十一5-7），約沙法在鄰近的沙漠中目睹了列國與他交戰的失敗（代下二十20-24）。先知阿摩司是「提哥亞的牧人」之一（摩一1），而提哥亞在耶利米的神諭中也曾被提及（耶六1）。從流亡之地歸來後，儘管貴族拒絕提供幫助，提哥亞的平民還是協助建造了耶路撒冷周圍的兩段城牆（尼三5、27）。
兩約時期在馬加比起義時期，巴基德（Bacchides）加強了城牆（馬加比記上 9:50），此處稱為 Tepho (Tappuah)，應更正為 Theko。
